ANNOUNCEMENTS
This past week, our church received a significant gift from a former member. After talking about it, the Joint Board felt it best to announce this so that everyone is aware of what has happened. We want to name aloud the various issues that come with a gift of this size.
The estate of Alice (Jens) Hunsinger, sister of Bernice Uhlenbrauck, has given Freedom Moravian Church $152,857.14. This is an incredibly gracious gift that will substantially bless the ministry of this congregation. I asked Bernice if she was aware of any stipulations regarding this gift and she informed that me Alice would've liked to see some pew cusions in church, so we will get some. Other than that, Alice's desire was that this money bless the ministry of this congregation.
The Joint Board will be meeting soon to discuss specific steps regarding this gift, but we wanted to name some things aloud:
- Everyone has ideas on how this money could be utilized. Not all ideas can be realized.
- There is a temptation when this type of gift is given to say, "I don't have to give as much anymore now." The incorrect assumption in that statement is that we give to "pay the bills." That is not the primary reason for giving. We give because we have been blessed by God and desire to submit ourselves to God and be a blessing to others. If anything, this gift should inspire us to give more, not less.
- The Joint Board is thinking in terms of both present ministries and future ministries. We are looking at possibly redoing the parking lot (Center Valley Road is being redone this summer), but we want to utilize a significant portion of this gift to use as an endowment. This mean that we would invest the money and use the annual interest to support our ministries while not touching the principle.
- The Joint Board desires to be as transparent as possible in this process. We will be communicating with you further as we continue to prayerfully consider how we can be the best stewards of this gift, and all gifts.

June 15th Celebration
You are invited to attend a special church service on Sunday, June 15th to celebrate the Andersen’s 5th anniversary at Freedom Moravian. It’s hard to believe but 5 years ago this July, we were truly blessed when Pastor Jason and Amy accepted the call to our church. An additional blessing was Sophie’s arrival in August, 2004. Please plan on joining us for this special occasion which will feature Rev. Jim Hicks as our guest speaker. Following the church service and in true Moravian fashion, a time of food and fellowship will be enjoyed by all. Please mark this special date on your calendar!

Sacristan Corps
The Board of Elders is looking to create a Sacristan Corps at church. The Sacristans' duties would be aware of the church calendar and make sure that any of the following tasks are taken care of in advance of any particular event (weddings, funerals, worship, etc):
- unlock/lock the doors
- turn on/off the lights
- turn on/off the heat
- shovel, salt, and/or sweep the sidewalks
- put up the hymn and liturgy numbers at the front of the sanctuary

We are looking for a group of people to sign up for the Sacristan Corps so that these duties can be handled on a rotating basis. We are also looking for someone or a couple to serve as Head Sacristan(s). If you are interested, please speak to an Elder (Jayne Ewald, Shari Nachtwey, Jim Hrodey, or Pastor Jason).

SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART
The Picture of Jesus
For many Christ has never become a personal reality as he was to Matthew in the tax office. It is like a certain bachelor professor who had a friend, an artist. One day he went into his studio and saw a magnificent portrait of a lovely lady. He could not help admiring the painting. The professor asked if he could take it and hang it in his apartment. His friend suggested that maybe he might want to go one better and meet the lady. The bachelor at the time was not interested. Later, however, almost by accident he did meet the lady and in due course they were married. Then the lady moved into the apartment where her portrait was hung. Before the wedding, the lady was just a painting - objective, formal, something to look at and admire. Now she was one to know and love.
How many of us have a picture of Jesus hanging on the wall of our homes or offices? Could Jesus be just someone who looks good and one whom we admire? For us to confront Christ, he must come off the wall, step out of the picture and into our hearts where we might know him truly.
